Rubio Monocoat oil, with 0% V
Volatile Organic Compounds is a generic term for the chemical substances that evaporate into the air after applying oil. Organic refers to the chemical composition of the components and volatile refers to the fact that they evaporate while drying.
Why are they hazardous?
Using products that contain VOCs releases vapours that are hazardous to both man and the environment. Excessive contact with VOCs can cause allergic reactions, breathing problems and eye problems. Furthermore, legislative bodies have found it necessary to intervene due to the effects VOCs have on the ozone layer and the increase they cause to the greenhouse effect.
Our statement: 0% VOC!
Already in the development phase of the Rubio Monocoat system, three years before the first VOC legislation had come into effect, the bar was set significantly high in the area of emission. Not a low VOC content that could still be open for discussion, but a clear statement about oil with 0% VOC. From the very start, we had already set higher emission standards for ourselves than the ones prescribed in the current 2010 legislation.
How is that possible?
In spite of the hazardous characteristics of VOCs, manufacturers refuse to stop using them altogether. They reduce their content to the lowest possible quantity, but they often do not abandon VOCs completely. This is because VOCs contribute to the optimal workability of traditional wood-finishing products. The action of Rubio Monocoat, however, is based on molecular bonding: a revolutionary technology in which the hazardous factors are eliminated while guaranteeing incontestable quality.
Molecular Bonding
The Rubio Monocoat Oil 2C adheres - within a couple of minutes - to the upper microns in the wood by strong molecular bonding (no film formation, no saturation).
Varnishes
Film formation - multiple layers (intermediate sanding) - not restorable - does not have the natural look & feel
Traditional waxes & oils
Continuous saturation - multiple layers - difficult to restore (overlaps) - maintenance intensive
Rubio Monocoat oil
Molecular bonding - no film formation - only 1 layer needed - easy maintenance - keeps the natural look & feel of the wood
Application Oil Plus 2C
RMC Oil Plus 2C: protects and colours your wood in one single layer
Treatment
- Apply a small amount of RMC Oil Plus 2C and spread it out with a cloth or polisher with a thin beige pad. Treat one zone of 5 - 10 m² at a time.
- Leave to react for a couple of minutes.
- Remove all excess oil with a non-fluffy cloth or polisher with a thin white pad within 15 minutes per zone. The surface should feel hand-dry after removal of the excess product.
